The Rainbow Rock Collection Rockin the Rainbow to kids in need one item at a time!” has partnered with the City of Alexandria, Mind the Mat, the Mindful Junkie, CrossFit Kids OldTown, and National Community Church for an amazing day of music, movement, and making a difference for children in and around Del Ray! The Rainbow Rock Collection will be hosting Alexandria’s Tot Rock Fest on Saturday, May 13, from 9:00am to 1:00pm, at the Mt. Vernon Recreation Center, 2701 Commonwealth Avenue, Alexandria, VA 22301. Festival attendees are encouraged to bring a “new” or “used” musical instrument to the festival! We will be collecting instruments for Now I Play Along Too and collecting financial donations both on-site and on our website ( All of the proceeds will be used to buy instruments and go directly to “Now I Play Along Too,” who support music programs in Haiti, Florida, and locally at the DC Dream Center.  The Rainbow Rock Band will be helping to deliver the instruments collected at the festival to an orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, this summer along with their friends from Melodime!  Also happening along Mt. Vernon Avenue on May 13th, is La Bella Strada, an Italian Street Painting Festival, AND a rummage sale at the Department of Human Services (2525 Mt. Vernon Avenue), highlighting clothing, toys and equipment for children!  So bring the family to Del Ray May 13th for our Del Ray Play Date 2017!

*Proceeds from this great community activity will benefit Now I Play Along Too, a non-profit foundation (based in Virginia) that focuses on improving the lives of disadvantaged kids through the gift of music. Inspired by the gift of an anonymous person, the alternative rock band MELODIME started the foundation to continue the story and provide opportunities to others who otherwise wouldn’t have been able to afford them. The foundation accomplishes this by providing music instruments, instruction, and encouragement to regularly practice and perform music. The rigorous process of learning, practicing, and performing a music instrument is a dual purpose to build character and discipline to help overcome obstacles.

See you at the Fest!

Rainbow Rock is all about giving back to the community and helping those who need it most! Inspired by activities in their community, the Rainbow Rock Collection supports individuals and organizations by developing various collections throughout the year to assist in fundraising and directly impacting children. Depending on the time of year, collections may be anything from swimsuits for summer or school supplies in the fall, but at every Rainbow Rock show donations of any kind will be accepted and they will find any “new” or “gently used” item a good home! The Rainbow Rock Collection has hosted a couple of Tot Rock Fests to reach a larger audience to collect donations.
